In a conversation with AppSumo founder Noah Kagan, bestselling author and angel investor Tim Ferriss reveals one of his techniques for writing more effective and compelling copy:
I keep a swipe file. It’s an old term for copy editors, they would find an ad that convinced them to buy something and they would take it, analyze it, and figure out why it got them to buy.
He later goes on to explain another variant of the swipe file: he would purposely call the number given during compelling infomercials just to experience their sales process.
