Overcome the Obstacles Between Vision & Reality

There is a method to the madness of turning an idea into a reality, it's just not as romantic as you thought.

If you’re reading this, it’s because you feel passionately about making ideas happen. It’s because you understand that the creative process isn’t just “Eureka!” moments, it’s a lot of “how do we solve this?” and “oh shit!” and “what next??” moments. It’s because you recognize that the magic of creative achievement really happens down in the trenches, knee-deep in doing. We all, on some level, KNOW these things. But summoning the focus and willpower and elbow grease to do what we know is right to push our ideas forward day in and day out is an ongoing challenge. At 99U, we do our part to constantly refuel you with new insights and tips on how to keep your ideas alive and make them real.

This month, the 99U introduces a new resource for your creative arsenal: our new book, Making Ideas Happen: Overcoming the Obstacles Between Vision & Reality, from Behance founder and CEO Scott Belsky. Four years in the making, the book is the print embodiment of the 99U mission to chronicle “the forces that truly push ideas forward.” To put it more plainly, if you’re an avid reader of 99U, you’re probably going to dig this book.

Your book looks absolutely amazing. We’ve just finished our also — out in August — titled The Creative Process Illustrated: How Advertising’s Big Ideas are Born. Yours has narrative, ours focuses on visualizing the process via advertising creatives.

Most importantly: the richness of creative process is a topic of importance. I’ve ordered your book and recommending to our students they use both as resource, inspiration.
